Manson Letter to the Editor

This is a Letter to the Editor of the Anderson Valley Advertiser in Boonville, California written from prison by Charles Manson. It was in response to an article Manson saw in the newspaper that a fellow prisoner had received. This reply was published in the June 25, 2008 issue of the newspaper. Manson and some of his Family stayed in this area for awhile in 1968 at a house rented by "five girls from San Francisco." Nine adults and four juveniles were arrested in June of that year by authorities who found  "quantities of marijuana, LSD and other drugs." Among those arrested was a Sadie Mae Glutz, an alias used by the Manson Family.

This is a scan of the letter hand written by Manson. Note the crossed-circle drawn in the fifth line used to denote the world. There is also a swastika drawn above the name Manson in his signature. What is written on the side of the letter reads, "PAPER   WAST(E)    tak(e)s  Air    world order is Air first". This would go along with his A.T.W.A. beliefs (Air Trees Water Animals).

This is an enlargement of the crossed-circle drawn on the letter. The circle was started at the top going to the left but not quite completing the circle. The triangle was drawn next from the left to the top to the right. The bottom of the triangle was drawn left to right. The vertical line was started almost where the circle was ended going up then down and then the horizontal line was made left to right. Finally, FOUR DOTS were placed in the quadrants of the circle.

This is an enlargement of the crossed-circle drawn on the envelope. The circle was started at the top going to the left and continued, without stopping, to make the vertical line. The horizontal line was then drawn left to right.
