Mr. Wellington Sharpe.
Mr.
Wellington Sharpe is a candidate for City Council in the 40th
District and is the best qualified to represent the interests
of the people of Central Brooklyn. He is focusing on running
a strong community based campaign, which encompasses people from
all walks of life and brings them together for the common good
of the community. After he wins he will be a powerful advocate
for the diverse working families within his district.
He
has lived in the area for the past thirty-three years and is the
Founder and President of Nelrak Child Development Center, which
has been in operation since 1992. Mr. Sharpe is a longtime community
activist and currently serves on several boards. He currently
is an active member of Community Board 17 and Chair of the Parks
Committee, which is responsible for overseeing all the public
parks in the area.
As
the next City Council Representative for the 40th City Council
District, he wants to ensure and improve the quality of life for
all residents of his district through equal and efficient access
to government. His immediate personal concerns include
but are not limited to quality public education, efficient healthcare,
redevelopment of our city's economic growth, affordable housing,
small business development and livable wages for all.
Mr.
Sharpe has spent years actively focusing on improving education
for children in his district, as an early childcare provider and
specialist in this area this has always been a personal concern
of his. Once elected, Mr. Sharpe intends on presenting a multi-purpose
plan that includes: health care delivery services, the development
of a new community center and trade school. As an advocate for
immigration, Mr. Sharpe said, “I believe I have a personal understanding
of the plans and programs needed to aid and help immigrants assimilate
and build a higher quality of life for themselves and their families.”
Mr.
Sharpe believes government comes down to the issues not whether
the issues are seen in terms of liberal or conservative, popular
or unpopular. He will always consider the issues in an INDEPENDENT
manner and decide what is right and which side of that issue will
most benefit the district, families and individuals he represent.
Mr.
Sharpe currently has endorsements from Congressman Edolphus Towns,
State Senator John Sampson, Council Member Lou Fiddler, Council
Member Domenic M. Recchia, Jr., Councilman Dr. Kendall Stewart,
