>>>> Profile of Mr. Wellington Sharpe.

Mr. Wellington Sharpe is a candidate for City Council in the 40th District and is the best qualified to represent the interests of the people of Central Brooklyn.   He is focusing on running a strong community based campaign, which encompasses people from all walks of life and brings them together for the common good of the community. After he wins he will be a powerful advocate for the diverse working families within his district.

He has lived in the area for the past thirty-three years and is the Founder and President of Nelrak Child Development Center, which has been in operation since 1992. Mr. Sharpe is a longtime community activist and currently serves on several boards. He currently is an active member of Community Board 17 and Chair of the Parks Committee, which is responsible for overseeing all the public parks in the area.

As the next City Council Representative for the 40th City Council District, he wants to ensure and improve the quality of life for all residents of his district through equal and efficient access to government.   His immediate personal concerns include but are not limited to quality public education, efficient healthcare, redevelopment of our city's economic growth, affordable housing, small business development and livable wages for all.

Mr. Sharpe has spent years actively focusing on improving education for children in his district, as an early childcare provider and specialist in this area this has always been a personal concern of his. Once elected, Mr. Sharpe intends on presenting a multi-purpose plan that includes: health care delivery services, the development of a new community center and trade school. As an advocate for immigration, Mr. Sharpe said, “I believe I have a personal understanding of the plans and programs needed to aid and help immigrants assimilate and build a higher quality of life for themselves and their families.”

Mr. Sharpe believes government comes down to the issues not whether the issues are seen in terms of liberal or conservative, popular or unpopular. He will always consider the issues in an INDEPENDENT manner and decide what is right and which side of that issue will most benefit the district, families and individuals he represent.

Mr. Sharpe currently has endorsements from Congressman Edolphus Towns, State Senator John Sampson, Council Member Lou Fiddler, Council Member Domenic M. Recchia, Jr., Councilman Dr. Kendall Stewart, Councilman Michael Nelson, Bishop Cecil Riley,

Ed Roberts Esq., Francis Percell, Mrs. Ruth Whitney Citizens Union and The Coalition of Outsiders.
